Yavapai Men's Basketball's Amari Lawrence Commits to Nelson University

Yavapai College Men's Basketball is proud to announce that Amari Lawrence has graduated and committed to continue his academic and athletic career at Nelson University.

A local product of Yavapai County and Bradshaw Mountain High School, Lawrence spent three seasons with the Roughriders, redshirting in 2023-24 before playing in 2024-25 and 2025-26. This past season, he appeared in 26 games, starting 14 of those games, averaging 6.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 35.2 percent from the field and 89.3 percent from the free-throw line.

"Amari has been with our program for three years, and I've watched him grow every step of the way — from redshirting his first year to becoming a consistent contributor and, this past season, a starter for us. I'm proud of him for earning a scholarship to a good, winning program like Nelson," said Head Coach Kevon Davis.

Nelson University is an NCCAA program competing in the Southwest Sun (SWS) Intercollegiate Conference. The Warriors have advanced to the national tournament for three straight years.

The Yavapai Men's Basketball program congratulates Amari and his family on this accomplishment and wishes him continued success as he joins the Nelson Warriors community.
